This piece is a representation of the ancient Egyptian notion that, like the setting sun, the departed soul travels beneath the earth and then appears once again at dawn in glory and triumph. Initially, in the piece, the journey of the body across the Nile is portrayed. The music then breaks into a powerful march. Eventually, the soul becomes a star in the firmament.
